AMD beliefs: DirectX 11 Radeons pleasantly fast

AMD's Developer Relations Chief Richard Huddy demonstrated the abilities of the first DirectX 11 graphics card from the Evergreen series. He is sure that the DX11 graphics cards will be a pleasant surprise when they are released later this year. AMD's Evergreen family of DirectX 11 compatible graphics card is supposed to be launched in 2009 - the GPU manufacturer is quite sure that it will be possible to offer DirectX 11 cards in time for the release of Microsoft's Windows 7 on October 22. According to AMD's head of the Developer Relations department, Richard Huddy, AMD expects to be surprise the customers with the performance of the Evergreen cards. Mr. Huddy said:

Google's Chrome OS: What It Means To Microsoft, Intel, Apple, And Yo

Google is grabbing all the headlines in the tech-nerd world with its announcement of Chrome OS. Initially aimed at the netbook market, this lightweight operating system relies heavily on "cloud computing". Since a great deal of the processing will be executed on the server side, hardware manufacturers should be able to release inexpensive netbooks that are full featured, thanks to a variety of Google products. Apple Hints at Launch of Nehalem-based Xserve

An Apple online store is set to take preorders of new Xserve servers carrying Intel's new Xeon chips, hinting at launch of the devices in the near future. A notice on Apple's Hong Kong online store is offering to take preorders of the Xserve based on Intel's latest Xeon server chips. However, preorders cannot be placed as the link hasn't been activated yet, and customization capabilities for the old Xserve products have been disabled. Intels Atom damages AMDs CPU market share

El Segundo (CA)  Each chip maker has basically the same business model, which is to sell more chips every day. And at least in this discipline, Intel showed its rivals how this business worked in 2008. Thanks to its Atom processor, the company earned a huge jump in market share during the year, while AMD lost nearly 25% of its 2007 share, according to iSuppli. Anyone in the microprocessor industry has to give Intel props for having the right product in the market at the right time. Atom was right there when the netbook segment became popular and no other company was able to cash in on this trend as much as Intel. The processor shifted Intel™s product mix to the lower end and impacted the firm’s revenue, due the lower prices of the CPU. However, since it is generally believed that Intel is able to produce Atom processors for less than $6 per piece, there is lots of profit margin in this product.
